    Shuan Suan, A 22 year old Giant Panda from Chapultepec Zoo near Mexico City, has been loaned to Guadalajara Zoo until January 2011.

    Shuan Shuan is one of the few Giant Pandas outside of China who does not belong to China. Most Giants pandas in zoos around the zoo belong to China and are leased by the zoos, with any children born also belonging to China and having to return when they reach two years of age.

    The Chinese President Hu Jintao has given permission for Canada to proceed in discussions with Panda Reserves in obtaining a pair of pandas, which will be housed in Canada.

    Toronto Zoo first began talks with the Chinese Government to obtain a pair of breeding pandas for a loan period of ten years. Then officials from Calgary and Montreal Zoos have asked to keep pandas but did not want to take them on loan for the full ten years, they proposed that all three zoos share the ten year loan, and each zoo has the pair for three years each.

    On July 8th 2010, Zhu Yun at Bifengxai, Experts think it's a boy, and weighed 159g and was 14.8cm long at birth.

    Eight year old Zhu Yun has been a mother before to twins Hu Bao & Min Min born in 2008, the father is believed to be Fifteen year old Ling Ling. Ling Ling is also the father of Tuan Tuan one of the Giant Pandas sent to Taipei.

    Zhu Yun is the first Giant Panda at Bifengxia to have a baby this year. It has been reported that Bifengxia can expect up to another 28 panda mothers this year, as 29 female Giant Pandas have been mated either by AI or naturally.

    I've got a report from news-163.com that the Giant Panda cub who was left with Ying Hua died 20 hours after being born. Reports say that the sister who was flown to Bifengxia is doing well.

    UPDATE: It appears that Ying Hua was too tired to notice that the little one had fallen off her body and was left exposed. The panda cub had a large area of haemorrhage to her right shoulder which effected her lungs

    Pandas International has released a newsletter stating that everyone's favourite Giant Panda Tai Shan who went to China will get his own Panda Cam.

    Tanks to the generosity of Tai's friend and especially one lady who donated the cost of running a new Internet cable from Ya'an to the Bifengxia base.

    The equipment has been ordered and the staff are preparing Tai Shan's Home for the work involved.

    Once the cam is live I will of course update the "Panda Cams" page.

    As the temperatures soar above 33 degrees centigrade (91 F) local start of Qi Qi Har Yang Guang is given a frozen fruitscicle to help cool down.

    The fruitscicle is made from fresh fruit frozen in water, are well known around the world by panda lovers and are regularly given to pandas when the weather gets hot.

    It takes quite a while for the panda to much it's way through the ice and fruit, and visitors can't help but stay to watch and make many videos and photographs.

    Besides it's another reason to show another photo of a Giant Panda.

    Between 2001 and 2004, 25 Panda Cubs were born 11 of which developed unexplained symptoms of diarrhea, flatulence, ascites and anal bleeding with death soon following.

    After years of research the cause is now believed to be caused by a Rotavirus. A virus which is a communicable of all pandas. Which can take between 3 and 18 months to cure using conventional treatments.

    Experts in 2005 formulated a new treatment which brings the treatment down to 5 days. Between 2005 and 2009, 31 pandas were at high risk of the disease but all of them were cured.

    Stuff.co.nz is reporting that Wellington Mayor Kerry Prendergast discussed bringing two pandas to the capital when she met with the Beijing mayor in beijing this month.

    Giant Panda Ba Si, One of the oldest known pandas was recently taken ill, but after 10 days of treatment and medicine she is making a recovery.

    1st June 2010, Ba Si had unexpected pancreatitis. Fuzhou Panda Research Centre immediately called in experts form the Fuzhou Institute. The out look did not look good, but with expert care and a good fight from Ba Si, she pulled through.
