Stuff.co.nz is reporting that Wellington Mayor Kerry Prendergast discussed bringing two pandas to the capital when she met with the Beijing mayor in beijing this month.

Is it thought that part of the deal could see a pair of kiwis going to China.

A spokesperson for the mayor said that the subject of pandas was raised whilst the mayor was in China, but would not comment further.

Talks between the Foreign Affairs and Trade Ministry and Chinese Counter parts are under way, it was confirmed by a spokes woman for New Zealand's Prime Minister John Key.
