2011-Jul-06

The Wolong Panda Park Blog has released some photos of when they transfered Su Lin Su Lin 苏琳 596 2005-Aug-02 Female San Diego Zoo San Diego Zoo Bai Yun - #371 Gao Gao - #415 to the semi wild enclosure near to Wolong.

Su Lin Su Lin 苏琳 596 2005-Aug-02 Female San Diego Zoo San Diego Zoo Bai Yun - #371 Gao Gao - #415 along with 5 other pandas who were bred this year have been release in to semi wild enclosures. These enclosures are a lot bigger than the ones at Bi Feng Xia and the pandas will not interact with humans.

It is hoped that the pregnant Giant Pandas will give birth and bring up their cubs in a more natural way. This is one of the first steps of many of being able to release Giant Pandas back in to the wild.

Last year other pandas were released in to the semi wild enclosures, whilst only one 'Cao Cao' gave birth. This year they hope that more of them will have cubs.

Whilst the keepers do not have daily contact, the pandas are closely monitored by CCTV cameras which are in the enclosures. So the keepers can help out in emergencies.

I feel that Su Lin Su Lin 苏琳 596 2005-Aug-02 Female San Diego Zoo San Diego Zoo Bai Yun - #371 Gao Gao - #415 is highly honoured to be included in the experiment, and San Diego and friends should be proud to think that one of their Grand Children could be released back in to the wild. Where they belong.
