The clay for the prints is made by a company in Shenzhen. It has no flavour, innoxious and doesn't stick to skin. Before taking the prints keeper Zhou Yu takes a small piece to the pandas to see whether they are sensitive to it.

Mei Xi acts like a super star and is having her prints on Hollywood's walk of fame. The other pandas have their paw prints taken without any problems.

The lack of fuss gathering the paw prints shows that the pandas are recovering well after their ordeal in the 2008 May 12th earthquake and have formed good bonds with their keepers.
