Rare Brown Panda Cub Found

There is a lot of talk about a wild two month old panda cub, found in the Fuping Reserve. The resaon for all the chatty? The little one has brown and white markings instead of the usual black and white markings.

The mother of the brown cub has usual markings. It is not known why some pandas are brown in colour. This cub brings the total of known brown panda bears to five.

When the cub was found it was lying down and appeared to be around two months old and weighed about 2kg's. It's eyes were not open. When someone tried to approach it would let out a cry.

The first brown bear known was Dan Dan" Captured in 1985 after she became ill. "Dan Dan" gave birth to a total of three cubs in two seasons, the twins didn't survive for long but the final cub "Qin Qin" was black and white coloured, and died in 2004 without leaving any cubs.

In 1990 a Brown bear was spotted in the wilds of Fupoing Reserve, and quickly disappeared when the explorers tried to get closer and was never spotted again.

The third brown panda was spotted in June 1991. The panda was a largeish cub with his mother.

The again in Fuping Nature Reserve the fourth brown panda was spooted in June of 1992
