Please nominate Suzanne Braden as the Animal Planet 2008 Hero

2008-Jul-09

Quoted from the Panda International Newsletter.
It appears you have to be from the USA, to take part. Sorry Suzanne but you get my vote anyway.

Please nominate Suzanne Braden, Director of Pandas International, as the Animal Planet 2008 Hero of the Year.

As you may have read in recent email alerts sent from Pandas International, Suzanne has been working countless hours since the May 12th earthquake in China that destroyed much of the China Conservation & Research Center for the Giant Panda, Wolong Nature Reserve. Through the hard work of Suzanne and other board members, Pandas International shipped critically needed supplies to both the people and the veterinary staff in earthquake shattered Wolong. Suzanne also traveled to Wolong to survey the damage first hand. She accompanied an NBC news crew as they made their way to Wolong, no easy feat because most of the roads to the mountainous region had been destroyed. She stood by the side of He Changgui, the caretaker of Mao Mao, a Giant Panda killed at the Center and comforted him during his beloved panda's funeral.

The $ 10,000 donation from Animal Planet would be made to Pandas International if Suzanne is selected as the winner. Nominations are due by July 19th!

The Grand Prize winner of the Hero of the Year award will be chosen by the judging panel at Animal Planet and people's choice voting, and named Animal Planet 2008 Hero of the Year. The winner will receive:
* $10,000 donation made to the winner's favorite animal welfare organization in this case Pandas International
* A trip for two (2) to a destination of the winner's choice that supports the winner's animal welfare passion.
