Japanese based Meimei dies aged 14

It's with great sadness that I report that Mei Mei Mei Mei 梅梅 408 1994-Aug-31 2008-Oct-15 Female WAKAYAMA Chengdu Zoological Garden Su Su - #312 LIn Nan - #298 died on Wednesday 15th October at Adventure World in Shirahama, Wakayama Prefecture, Japan.

WAKAYAMA (Kyodo) The giant panda Meimei, who gave birth to 10 cubs in China and Japan, has died, officials at Adventure World in Shirahama, Wakayama Prefecture, said Wednesday.

Meimei died at age 14, which is about 50 years in human terms. She had eight cubs in Japan after giving birth to two in China. Rauhin, which gave birth to twin cubs at the park in September, is one of Meimei's offspring.

Meimei suffered health problems last winter. She recovered but lost her appetite this month and did not move around much.
