To mark the opening of the new panda area at Chengdu at the beginning of the year, world renowned artist Master Guo Yueming completes a miniature sculpture of a panda called Abao on to a panda hair.

The picture took 3 days to make was completed at a ceremony at Chengdu Research Centre as is the tradition in China.

The last panda born in 2008 at Chengdu Research Centre was called Gong Zai, was was adopted by Mr. Jeffrey Katzenberg, the CEO of DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc, who took an instant liking to him when he and other people from Dream Works visited. Gong Zai was renamed Abao, Po in Chinese which is the name of the main character in Kung Fu Panda.
