    Li li at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in Chengdu, Sichuan, China has given the centre it's first panda cub of the year.

    Li Li is a 20 year old and has given birth to 9 previous cubs.

    Congratulations to Li Li and everyone who looks after her.

    A wild born panda who was rescued in 2008 and given birth to twins for the second time since her capture.

    Super mum Guo Guo at Bifeng Xia near Ya'an China has given birth to her 8th cub.

    The cub was born in the early hours of 23rd of July 2012. No more details of the cub yet.

    Well done to Guo Guo and all the people who care for her.

    Xi Mei from the Bifengxia Panda Centre has given birth to twins.

    Xi Mei was mated back in early march with Lu Lu a 12 year old panda.
    The cubs are the first to be born in China this year. The second cub in being kept in an incubator as is the practise when twins are born, and has been identified as being a female and weighing 154.2 grams (about 5.5 oz).

    Xi Mei had twins in 2005 and 2006 she also had a single cub in 2009.

    Congratulations to Xi Mei, and all the staff who look after her.

    The BBC News website is reporting that the Panda Cub born to Shin Shin on the 5th July has been found dead in his mothers arms.

    Staff and vets there tried for an hour to bring him back to live but could not. An autopsy has reviled that the cub inhaled milk which triggering pneumonia.

    Our deepest symphonies goes to Shin Shin and all the staff who look after her.

    Reports are coming in that Shin Shin of Tokyo Zoo has given birth.

    It's reported that both Shin Shin and her Mate Ri Ri who arrived last year, mated naturally earlier this year.
    It is the first Panda Cub to be born at Tokyo Zoo for 24 years.

    Well done to Shin Shin in starting off the season and her keepers and all the stall who look after her.

    Back on June 15th the Malaysian government signed an agreement with the China Wildlife Conservation Association (CWCA), which will pave the way for the loaning of a pair of Giant Pandas to Malaysia.

    The agreement was signed by Peninsular Malaysia’s director-general of the Wild Life Protection and National Parks Department (Perhilitan), Abd Rasid Samsudin and the secretary-general of CWCA Zang Chunlin.

    The pair of Pandas will be loaned for a period of 10 years, and are expected to arrive within a year of signing the agreement.

    Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper met with Chinese President Hu Jintoa on Thursday, where one of the things they talked about was about Canada renting a pair of Giant Pandas for 10 years, which they agreed to.

    Giant pandas have a reputation for sleeping and eating lots of bamboo, but today Edinburgh Zoo released a clip filmed by panda keeper Sharon Hatton that shows just how agile, strong and playful pandas really can be.

    Edinburgh Zoo’s male giant panda, Yang Guang (Sunshine) went for a stroll outside and was delighted to discover a new climbing frame in his outdoor enclosure. (Video after the fold)
