Mei Lan has been selected by the WWF as the Global Ambassador of Earth Hour.

At 8:30 pm on saturday 27 March, millions of people around the world will turn off their lights for one hour to show to the world what can be done to resolve the delemma of global warming.

Mei Lan took up her role in her new home town of Chengdu, the first city in China to support Earth Hour 2010.

On a side note it appears that Mei Lan doesn't like Chinese New Year, as all the firecrackers disturbed her, and she was seen running around her cage.

Chengdu Research Centre sits near to a very large city, whilst BFX is up in the hills where there are few people. I have not heard how Tai Shan dealt with the celebrations.
